Of course, youth are encouraged to perform on the Lobby Stage. Youth have a lot of fun at our conventions too!
See Dr. Sharon Seaton to be reviewed or evaluated.

Due to generous donations by various members, the youth are allowed to attend convention workshops, concerts, and related activities without paying an entrance fee! As you register for the 2012 convention, be sure to contribute to this special program.

The National Accordion Association (NAA) youth program is designed for individuals 19 years of age and younger. Due to normal school schedules, we have declared Saturday March 17, 2012 as our official 2012 youth day.

Purpose: To continue long-term growth of the accordion by encouraging young people to love the accordion and to promote it for generations to come. Besides, playing the accordion is fun and encouraging our youth to play the accordion is a good way to protect our heritage.

The NAA encourages the participation of both parents and the youth in our activities

Youth 1 pictureYouth 2 pictureDue to generous contribution, our youth admission are pre-paid. Youth activities coordinated by Shelia Lee

Shelia Lee studioShelia Lee will be managing the Hohner Accordion Trade Show area. She is setting up the show area to simulate her Pasadena Accordion Studio.

Both youth and adults are encouraged to stop by and to take beginner lessons on either the button or piano accordion. This picture was recently taken in her Houston area accordion studio.

Shelia Lee and staff teach button, piano, and chromatic keyboard accordions. On Saturday, Shelia will be in the Hohner Trade Show area letting anyone interested play an accordion (piano, button, or chromatic). If you bring your own a button accordion with the bass reeds removed, bring those reeds and Shelia will put the reeds back in (free) and teach you how to play a button accordion while using the bass buttons.

Hello Aurelius Jo:

While you can't be a part of the 2012 NAA Trade Show (or the 2013 NAA Trade Show) because both of them have already happened, there is no reason that you can't sign up for the 2014 show. Check http://www.nationalaccordion.org/ for more information.

I went to the one last year, to do a presentation about my dad's contributions to the accordion and to introduce the performers at one of the evening's events. I was very impressed with the whole thing, and wished that I'd had more time to spend.

Seeing the Roland accordions there rekindled my interest in the accordion. It ain't your granddad's squeezebox any more!
