That is way cool! I didn't know you play the marimba. That's neat.
This weekend at Miller Outdoor Theater in Houston, there is an Accordion Kings and Queens festival. It's on Saturday evening. I may be there. I'm not sure yet. Flaco will be performing.

Studying the push button, also working on Viva Sequin and several other Tex Mex songs. Starting lessons with Debra Peters next week. Playing my Hohner Piano Accordion and learning music theory. Was invited to play the accordion and marimba part on Linton Mancialla's new CD which will be released in the fall. Very exciting. Whenever my parents have time, we visit Accordion Performances. Would love to watch Joel Guzmann and Sarah Fox. Mr Kohl is doing a write up about me in the California Accordion Newsletter, feel very privileged and thankful for meeting inspiring role models in the Accordion World.
You are absolutely right. In fact, he is trying to preserve his father's style. Most button accordionists that play Tex-Mex do not use the left hand at all. Santiago insists that the left hand should be used. I agree with him completely.
He did a workshop with Chris Rybak at HAPI in Pasadena on Cinco de Mayo. Santiago taught us "Viva Seguin," which is one of his father's songs. He was playing a Roland FR-18.
The next day, Boni Mauricio gave a workshop on an FR-18 as well. I was so inspired by these guys that I bought an FR-18 button box. I also got a Hohner Corona II that was actually made in Germany instead of China. I can't play it worth beans, though. It's a completely different instrument.
I also got an FR-3x. It's lighter and easier to manage.
