Hello, I don't play any instruments but my father played the accordion as a young man and we are celebrating his 80th birthday this Saturday. I was hoping to surprise him with an hour or two of an accordionist playing his favorite songs that he used to play as a young man. Mostly World Music and European and some Argentine Tangos.
We are located in Cypress/Houston Texas. Please reach out if anyone knows of an accordionist in the area. Thank you.

I am branching out from my Chromatic Button Accordion to a Diatonic Baffetti (TexMex II). I am seeking recommendations for Method Books, DVDs, On-Line Sites or any another training resources in the English language. While I speak Spanish, I can't keep up with the Mexican vid's on Utube and don't understand many of the words relative to music.
At this point, I am more interested in the mechanics/layout of diatonic accordions, technique and theory relative to the DBA, than in learning a…

Anyway, my question is how can I find or setup an Irish musette sound as typically used in Irish ballads and jigs. Such as this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LobJMAJUC4Y
Any ideas or help would…

Hello everyone!
I am new to Texas Accordion Net, and I am hoping someone can help me, as I have not been able to find the exact information I have been looking for through internet search or YouTube.
I play the Roland FR-18 Diatonic Accordion, which I am thoroughly enjoying. Not only versatile, but also programmable!
I do not read music, I only play by ear...
I am wanting to program my bass/chord…

This year I joined Rose City Accordion Club in Portland, OR. Got to play with a group of "jammers" at the Dec. meeting. It's wonderful to play with others as I've played piano for decades but it's hard to haul a piano around. Have met the nicest people and they are so accepting of new people and our level of skills. I learn from them constantly.

Recommendations for repair of 120 Bass Jorgensen and simple 12 Bass Camerano. Both have been unused for years and need cleaning, likely reed replacement and tuning. I do know of the Reyes shop in Pasadena but don't know about their work or services available. Advice?

Thank you all for your encouragement. I found a company in Philly that rents accordions. Last night was my first meeting with teacher. Was worried she would find something wrong with my accordion. She tried it and said it was very good for someone starting out. First lesson is tonight at 6pm. My teacher just moved to my area from Germany 5 months ago. She was not familar with the Palmer hughes book I had, but liked it. Really enjoyed meeting her. We spoke for awhile about what kind…
ContinueHi, I am as much a beginner as you can be. Found a place near me to take lessons from someone with a music/accordion background. I am wondering about a accordion for sale here. I am interested since the owner is in same town as accordion repair store with good rep. I am going to ask the owner of the accordion to have the shop evaluate the accordion for me. Question is can a beginer learn on a 120 bass with two switches (aperto, chiuso). One with 120 bass is intimadating to me. My…
